Chen, Tao Su, Brad Brim SiSoft - Walter Katz* Teraspeed Consulting Group - Bob Ross* ======================================================================== No patents were announced. The team reviewed the draft text of the full Touchstone 2.0 specification. Bob suggested that "mixed-mode" use upper case lettering after the hyphen. Radek also suggested that the sentence beginning with "A differential port" may be moved to the start of the mixed-mode section later in the document. Walter inquired whether the exclamation point (!) is always a comment character. If so, some tools might encounter issues with node names containing exclamation points. Bob noted that a comment character keyword may be added in the future. This topic will be discussed in a future meeting. The [Mixed-mode Order] keyword requires some changes to the options data noted in the examples. Bob asked whether [Two-Port Data Order] and mixed-mode data can be Used together. Radek noted that the fundamental problem is that two methods of specifying data ordering are supported by the specification. The team agreed that the mixed-mode data format is arbitrary and explicit, so the [Two-Port Data Order] keyword should not an issue; it may be ignored. Vladimir added that [Two-Port Data Order] isn't required for lower- or upper-half formats either. Michael will add a node on the relationship between mixed-mode and matrix upper- and lower-half formats. Radek asked whether a statement should be added to the reference keyword regarding the ordering of the ports. A clarification will be added. Some discussion was held on [Interconnect Port Groups]; detailed discussion will be deferred until mixed-mode changes have been finalized. Walter asked whether more than two ports may be part of the mixed-mode format, if separated by commas. This will be clarified. Bob advised clarifying the format to ensure that single-ended ports are properly explained in the format outline. Some semicolons still remain in the document. These will be removed. Bob noted that some keywords in the examples appear on lines by themselves, with no data immediately following them. This should either be changed or specific rules be added to the document to explain the usage. Walter asked that underscores, rather than commas, be used as delimiters, to ease EDA tool interpretation. Michael observed that nearly all the mixed-mode text was now complete, except the explanatory text in the mixed-mode section and the "Notes on Data Derivation" at the end. Vladimir supplied draft documents to cover the latter shortly before the meeting. The team will review Vladimir's mixed-mode conversion document in the next meeting. ======================================================================== Team Objectives: 1) complete ICM-IBIS linking BIRD and any associated changes to the ICM specification 2) update the ICM specification, if needed, to clarify the mapping of ICM nodes to S-parameter ports 3) complete a specification for "Touchstone Plus" or similar industry-standard definition for Touchstone-like files, to include complex impedance references, removal of limits on the maximum number of ports and per-port impedance references ' ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------ The IBIS Ad Hoc Interconnect Task Group Mailing List Archives are available at: http://www.freelists.org/archives/ibis-interconn TO UNSUBSCRIBE: Send a message to "ibis-interconn-request@freelists.org" with a subject of "unsubscribe" To administer your subscription status from the web, visit: http://www.freelists.org/list/ibis-interconn
